Trattoria Italian Kitchen Restaurant Review: The decidedly more casual twin to downtown’s Italian Kitchen, this neighbourhood Kitsilano spot will make you feel like you’ve had a fun night on the town without tapping out your bank account. Adventurous trattoria-style cooking is the philosophy and the 100-seat eatery excels with hearty pastas and pizzas combining bold spices and flavor combinations such as spaghetti with Wagyu meatballs in a spicy basil tomato sauce with herb-infused ricotta, and lamb sausage pizza with frito vegetables, zucchini and goat cheese. There's also a fine panzanella salad combining cubes of Chianti vinegar-moistened Tuscan bread scattered with ripe heirloom tomatoes, grapes, arugula and burrata. If donuts rev your motor, don't miss the fresh zeppole al cioccolato --- homemade fritters with a gooey chocolate interior. To pair with your meal, choose from more than 50 wines from Tuscany, Piedmont, Veneto and Sicily, plus a handful of boutique wines from British Columbia and California. Service is consistently enthusiastic and helpful.
