Sidewalk seating in front gives way to a deli, café and wood-trimmed main dining room in back that’s decorated with images of unusual conical-roofed homes common in Alberobello, Italy. The menu is heavy on Italian classics, like caprese salad, all well prepared and boldly seasoned, and the service is down-home friendly. Although it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, we recommend the tender, lightly fried calamari with spicy tomato sauce, and the starter of homemade sausages on chunky fava bean purée is a hearty treat. Follow with the veal scallopine, laden with garlic and Italian sausage under a cloak of melted mozzarella, and with light-as-air tiramisu. On your way out, grab some marinated olives, imported sausages and cheeses and olive oil from the prepared foods case.
