| Some restaurant locations seem to get recycled over and over, only to fall vacant with depressing regularity. But with Tre Trattoria, chef-owner Jason Dady may have broken the cycle at The Boardwalk on Broadway. Dady has always had Italian inclinations at Bin 555, but here, in this airy environment (and also at the downtown branch), it’s molto Italiano with appetizers such as house-made-ricotta bruschette and asparagus with salsa rustica. Salads include a grilled radicchio with lemon vinaigrette, and primi are distinguished by pappardelle with rustic pork ragù and thin-crusted griddled pizzas such as goat cheese with pistachio. Family-style entrées are meant to be shared, so go with a crowd---or go very hungry for the likes of wild boar lasagna. (We admit being disappointed with a few dishes lately, including a pumpkin risotto, since rotated off the menu.) If, after all of this (and tumblers of earthy Italian wine), dessert beckons, consider the pine nut and chestnut honey tart. |
