THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Trilby Restaurant Review:

Many New York dining observers think the restaurant space in The Cooper Square Hotel is cursed. First came LA chef Govind Armstrong’s Table 8. It lasted a year. Then Scott Conant moved in with Faustina. It didn’t last much longer. But now maybe there is a formula for success: enter The Trilby, a moody lounge-like restaurant serving late-night cocktails and European-accented comfort food. The menu is divided into “Smaller Plates” and “Larger Plates.” Of the former, the creamy (almost gooey) burrata gnocchi with cherry tomatoes hits the spot. So does the pork and pistachio terrine. The larger portioned fare can be pricey but the fork-tender braised lamb shank is worth the splurge. Even the house burger, topped with a tangy sauce, is decent. And if that’s not enough, conclude with an ice cream float. Or just order the house cocktail, The Trilby: whisky, vermouth, Parfait Amour, orange bitters and absinthe.
