| For many years, Trombino's set the standard for Italian cuisine in Albuquerque. Even now, it maintains a reputation as a reliable family trattoria. Red-sauce traditions like lasagna, eggplant Parmigiana and ravioli dominate the menu---a perennial favorite is the homemade Italian sausage with roasted red peppers and potatoes---but it also offers a smattering of contemporary options, like tender herb-crusted chicken cooked under a brick. Thin-crust pizzas and, believe it or not, fresh fish specials are worth a glance; when available, for instance, try the grouper filet crusted in Parmesan, though it’s hardly authentic (the pairing of fish and cheese is avoided in Italy as a rule). Pedestrian desserts won’t knock the socks off your sweet tooth, nor will the standard wine list wow oenophiles. But neither will outright send you packing, either. |
