True Food Kitchen Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Noted physician Dr. Andrew Weil advocates an anti-inflammatory diet that he believes ameliorates many issues that compromise health. In the 1990s, he met Phoenix restaurateur Sam Fox. Their collaboration resulted in a chain of casual restaurants that put into action the Weil principles without sacrificing flavor. True Food Kitchen launched in 2008, and in 2014 invaded the land of fried chicken and fatback. The Lenox Square outpost is an open, bright and buzzing establishment.

Food & Drinks: For starters, check out the daily market soup, which changes with the seasons. We enjoyed a light but flavorful mushroom and scallion miso soup. Flavor inspirations derive from a variety of cuisines, so you'll find Moroccan (Moroccan chicken), Italian (pizza and lasagna made with chicken fennel sausage) and Asian (poké, tataki, panang noodles). Dessert gets its own lengthy list, ranging from squash pie in a graham crust to sorbet and vanilla ice cream. Many dishes are vegan. The kids' menu follows the same health-conscious guidelines, so the burger is made from grass-fed beef, just like the one for the grown-ups. There’s a decent wine list composed of organic or sustainable selections, or go for the hot drink called "The Natural" with ginger, citrus and honey --- perfect for a cold weather slump. It's no longer listed on the menu, but they'll make it for you upon request. Check out Sunday brunch before hitting the shopping trail.
