| Let's just say upfront that The Turf Supper Club, or Turf Club as it is commonly known, is not for vegetarians. The menu consists of meat, meat and more meat. Sure, you can get a veggie kebab and a side salad, but the main ingredient here is beef (with some perfunctory chicken and fish). So, if you are ready for a night of grill-your-own steaks and hipster people-watching, this is your new favorite place. Open since 1950 (but re-established in 1998), the club has a decidedly retro décor, low on light, space and fresh air, smoke being a natural by-product of the center-of-the-room grill. But it abounds in old-school Vegas atmosphere and no-frills cuisine. The menu is limited. You can order the side of garlic bread and salad, but you will be left dreaming of a shrimp cocktail or at the very least a baked potato. Cooking our own food doesn't top our list of favorite going-out activities, but the pseudo-swanky atmosphere is so enticing that we keep coming back for more. |
