THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tuscan Grill Restaurant Review

: The old chestnut that quantity and quality don’t mix is proven false here at the Tuscan Grill. What does mix well are earthy, punchy appetizers and more simply elegant mains in hearty measure. While the menu leaves vegetarians somewhat in the lurch, it lets meat-eaters have a field day, from deeply flavorful bowls of lobster broth with clams, smoked bacon and chickpeas to wild boar skewers with braised lentils to grilled chops (as the name suggests, a house specialty) like venison with sweet potatoes and black kale. The wine list properly emphasizes wines from Tuscany, although Piedmont gets its due, too. And nobody can deny the appeal of the piping hot focaccia, which arrives gratis at your table before ordering. Meanwhile, the crowd, a mix of well-heeled suburbanites and foodies from the city, wedges itself into a small, loud space and generally has a ball doing it.
