TWENTY6 Restaurant Review: TWENTY6 at La Quinta Resort & Club boasts a large, inviting dining room with a stamped-metal ceiling and an alluring outdoor patio. The contemporary American bistro is open all day, starting with breakfast fare and bacon Bloody Marys (plus a buffet on the weekends) and moving on to salads and sandwiches at midday. The green eggs and ham pizza is a sure kid-pleaser, as is the chocolate milk listed on the "quenchers" menu. Such creativity is at the heart of the cooking, as is a dedication to house-made ingredients: ketchup, steak sauce, licorice and beef jerky, to name a few. The lump Maryland crab cake is served with crispy shallot rings, avocado relish and red pimiento sauce and can be shared as an appetizer or considered a meal. Buffalo chicken lollipops are tasty, paired with a carrot-celery slaw and a blue cheese mousse for added kick. Beef sliders, hanger steak and Scottish salmon are available, too. The wine list primarily offers American selections, but diners can also choose from California beers, classic cocktails and vintage sodas.
