THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Two Papas Tavern Restaurant Review:
This place looks like a guardhouse on the outside, but inside, with its dark paneling, low-hung lights, crisp checked tablecloths and family-style dining, its cheerful, cozy, and comfortable. While fried perch, steak, and buffalo (!) are on the menu, this place is 100% Italian. The houses wine-and-garlic steamed muscles (.25$ each), Nicks Spatinis (breaded and broiled beef and mozzarella sticks), or the sized-to-be-shared Nibblers Plate antipasto salad are the way to start a meal here. The menu is good---the meatball sub, sided with the houses garlic fries; spaghetti and meatballs platter; eggplant parmesan (and buffalo burgers) are house best sellers---but the daily features sheet is better. On our most recent visit, it featured chicken piccata (gently kissed with lemon) and wine-and-lemon sautéed jumbo shrimp tossed with linguini. All entrées come with veggie-dense salads (best tossed with the houses raspberry vinaigrette dressing) and warm, crusty bread served with a wonderful selection of herbed butters. If you have room for dessert, try the chocolate chip pudding cake topped with vanilla ice cream. Betcha cant finish it!
