Uva Trattoria Italiana Restaurant Review: Chef-owner Candido Di Terlizzi is a newcomer to Napa but not to the Bay Area. He has owned restaurants in Berkeley since emigrating from his native Bari. When the popular Brown Street Grill moved to bigger quarters and reopened as Pearl, Di Terlizzi seized the opportunity to open in the town of Napa. The menu at Uva covers all the basics: pastas, risotto, gnocchi, pizza, and traditional preparations of meat, poultry and seafood. A house specialty is homemade tagliatelle with roasted portobello mushrooms, topped with pecorino cheese. At lunch the bill of fare includes panini, soups and salads. One nice touch is that pastas are offered in both appetizer and meal-size portions. The small wine list ranges from Napa Valley varietals to selections from Italian producers. |
