THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Village Fish Restaurant Review: The appeal of this Brookline Village seafooder is becoming less and less apparent. Now that it's only half the size of its former self, its cozy urban brick-and-blackboard vibe, enhanced by an open kitchen and a bustling crowd, has been eclipsed by its cramped feel. As for the food, once the homey shtick worked---fresh fish, including several daily catches, simply prepared and often served right in the skillet. Now, inconsistency reigns. Occasionally the offerings are still sparkling and zippy and worth every penny (you'll probably be dropping around 2000 of them per entrée). But often the kitchen just seems to be going through the motions, and the result is not only bland but mostly overcooked.
