 Vin Rouge Restaurant Review: Country antiques and French decorative touches evoke this bistro's counterparts in the South of France. Under the supervision of longtime chef Matthew Kelly, faithful renderings of classic dishes from French provinces live up to the cozy ambience. Francophiles will find it hard to choose among the offerings --- frisée salad with duck confit, onion and goat cheese tart, a variety of house-made pâtés served with onion marmalade, trout almandine, steak frites with béarnaise sauce, croque madame, bouillabaisse, and a succulent "grandmère's" roast chicken. Kelly’s fresh seafood specials and sweetbreads du jour are always worth trying. Just be sure to save room for the chocolate mousse or crème brûlée. The well-chosen wine list covers the major grape-growing regions of France. In good weather, the extensive courtyard patio is one of the area's most attractive and lively al fresco dining spots. |
