 Step through the door of Vin Rouge and leave the American South behind. This classic French bistro conjures up its counterparts in Dijon or St. Remy with authentic touches such as a pile of baguettes on a sturdy antique farmhouse table. Chef Matthew Kelly's menu lives up to the setting with faithful renderings of classics such as steak tartare, onion soup, bouillabaisse, roast chicken with Lyonnaise potatoes, and duck confit salad with frisée. Sweetbreads du jour are first-rate, as are all three versions of steak frites. Just be sure to save room for the chocolate mousse or the crème brûlée. A smaller lace-draped dining room off to one side is a fine spot for romance, and the courtyard patio is one of the area's premier al fresco dining areas.
