How did such a chic place get such a clunky name? Look at its location: on the corner of Water and Buffalo Streets in the Third Ward. Once a warehouse, the restaurant features Cream City brick walls, exposed-beam ceilings, a long bar, and modern bronze and copper sculptures. The black-bean burger is thick, "meaty" and spicy, as are the large, sautéed scallops with snap peas, grape tomatoes and fresh herbs over fettuccine with butter sauce. We also recommend the smoked mozzarella tortellini with wild-mushroom cream sauce. For dessert, a turtle brownie with caramel and pecans hits the spot. Friday is a good time to visit since Champagne-battered Alaskan cod with fries, sliced rye and coleslaw is on offer. Get there early to grab a patio seat on one of the nicest dining decks downtown, order the fish and watch the river flow.
