Ways & Means Oyster House Restaurant Review

: After disappearing from the Orange County food scene, this seafood-driven restaurant has come back in a reasonable spot: Huntington Beach retail complex Pacific City. The venue takes full advantage of its coastal address, its light-wood interior, centralized bar and compact patio overlooking the ocean and bringing a bit of New England charm to classic Surf City. The new location isn’t the only feature that’s different, either. Executive chef Danny Allen has eschewed hefty mains for a menu of small plates that oscillate between surf and turf. Start with a round of oysters, either a half-dozen raw or a trio of dressed creations topped with chorizo or garlic, butter and Parmesan. There are also “boats” of raw seafood if oysters aren’t your thing. The mix-and-match small plates are highlighted by a nicely executed order of fish ‘n’ chips; Moroccan salmon rillettes; jerk-glazed salmon with coconut rice; and fried plantains. On weekends, the restaurant serves bottomless mimosas with brunch items like flat-iron steak and eggs with house-made chimichurri.
