| This steakhouse serves up some of the North County’s finest meat, with chef Eugenio Martignago at the helm. Carnivores will enjoy the tender, wet-aged Prime cuts --- especially the rarely found bone-in 16-ounce filet. Start with the smooth Maine lobster bisque, which has just the right hint of sweetness and generous lumps of meat. Warm roasted red and yellow beets nestle over mâche with piquant goat cheese, tomato and olive tapenade. Pan-roasted wild Alaskan halibut, flaky fresh and moist, finds a lovely companion in its butternut squash and parsnip risotto, with a roasted tomato and garlic tarte Tatin nearby. But the real showstopper is the meat --- steaks cooked with a little butter and sea salt to let the flavor speak for itself. Colorado lamb and New Zealand Cervena venison chops demand attention, too. Truffled macaroni and cheese and German spätzle are standout sides, as is the creamed spinach (a reflection of a good steakhouse in our opinion). A decadent end: white chocolate crème brûlée with an almond tuile of fresh berries. Service is professional in the relaxing, modern setting. |
