WestChase Grille Restaurant Review: Before they were chefs, John Westerhaus and Chase Wilcox were best friends. It turns out, they still are. Lucky for us, the duo merged their diverse talents and put them to good use. Westerhaus’s bravado with pastry complements Wilcox’s finesse in classic French technique. Slotted into Hawthorne Plaza, WestChase Grille bears no resemblance to 40 Sardines, the restaurant that once occupied the same space. Now spiffed up with a blend of deep, warm wood and ledge-rock appointments, the house is comfortably chic but pretension-free. Even lunch doesn’t disappoint. The grilled caprese sandwich is as fresh as can be, as is the puffed-up, homemade turkey potpie. Tipple if you wish from the well-stocked bar; then, come back for dinner. Start with the classic French onion soup and segue into your choice of land or sea selections. Entrées may include jumbo sea scallops or Maple Leaf Farms duck breast. |
