Wild Sage Café is decorated with casual, understated elegance. A pale slate path leads to the open kitchen in the back. Walls are hung with vibrant framed prints, and perched on a stand that divides the 60-seat dining room from the kitchen is a whimsical wine garden of colorful bottles seemingly impaled on slender wrought-iron poles. The imaginative food is superb. The chanterelle-oyster-Italian brown-butter mushroom soup with cream demi-glace is a must. Try the grilled asparagus with prosciutto and orange mustard, the Louisiana crabcakes with Cajun succotash and the arugula salad with sliced apples, toasted walnuts and goat cheese. Save room for the dessert of fresh berries atop the crème brûlée served with a lemon shortbread cookie.
