Wilko Restaurant Review

: Given its location, one might think Wilko is all rah, rah Wildcats. But once guests enter the restaurant through the wide doors they encounter an interior with rustic tables, mixed lighting and perhaps the largest clock in town hanging above the sleek bar. The menu is also full of surprises. Wilko has a sophisticated cheese program where the well-balanced offerings are listed with their place of origin, the type of milk and how long the cheeses are aged. Charcuterie also proposes quality choices. There’s a burger, and the meat is grass-fed and organic. Under the “Tasty Misfit” category you’ll find the Sonoran bratwurst, a refined take on the popular street hot dogs found all over the city. Sausage is locally made (a major feature of the food) and topped with guindilla relish, apple wood-smoked bacon, pinto beans, brown mustard, fresh tomato and crème fraîche. For dinner, consider the tilapia with a potato-flake crust and sautéed spinach. Cocktails are well-built and a bit off the beaten path. And with eleven craft beers on tap and over 30 wines by the glass, diners will find a nice pairing for any food.
