THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Wine Cottage Bistro Restaurant Review: THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED The cozy Wine Cottage Bistro, owned by sisters Rebecca Jacobs and Aimee Sigala, feels like a winery’s tasting room, except this eatery features some of the best wines produced in both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. They offer 30 by the glass or taste, and many more by the bottle---including fine selections from Northern California, Australia, France and Germany. Enjoy any of them with accomplished appetizers or full meals. The menu includes wild Pacific salmon with mashed potatoes and a medley of al dente, garden-fresh vegetables; tender wild boar short ribs braised in red wine with chilies and dried cherries; and shrimp with cherry-pepper sauce and mesclun salad. At lunch, dishes like the open-face crab sandwich, cream of mushroom soup and special pizza with Serrano ham, mushrooms and olives impress. For dessert, try the chocolate bread pudding. Even when the restaurant’s popularity translates into slow service during peak lunch and dinner hours, the food is well worth the wait.
