Won More Szechuan Cuisine Restaurant Review:

Overlooking English Bay and the crowd-pleasing sculpture of 14 larger-than-life statues of mirthful men by Beijing-based artist Yue Minjun, second-floor Won More is an institution in Vancouver’s West End. Its menu features comfort fare at modest prices, and diners choose from Szechuan food that runs from mild for the faint-of-palate to four-alarm heat for those who like the burn. Heat-seekers will enjoy the curried pork lettuce wraps, beef with dry tangerine peel, and soft tofu with crab meat and spinach. Milder options include barbecued duck fried rice and moo shu shrimp. It's traditional to finish with a rice dish such as fresh mushroom fried rice, but grilled pork pot stickers or a steamed or deep-fried shredded roll will also fill any empty corners. Wine choices are limited to one red and one white. Tsing Tao, a Chinese beer, is the drink of choice. Take-out and delivery are also available.
