An under-30 crowd flocks to this Allston bar but just for the drinks, sending foodies fleeing.

Wonder Bar Restaurant Review

: We like the interior of this modern, brick-walled Allston Village spot, but Wonder Bar has lost its luster over the years. The earnest jazz combos that played nightly rarely had an appreciative crowd, which was rather loud, student-dominated and there to party. Now that DJs rule the joint, the appeal for foodies is almost obsolete. The bar menu isn’t bad --- chicken Parmesan bites with warm marinara sauce and chicken wings in a variety of flavors --- but it isn’t memorable either, especially in the case of the oven-baked french fries. Meanwhile, dishes are reasonably priced, and that goes for the marinated steak tips, a chicken fajita wrap and a number of unusual quesadillas (cheeseburger?) and pizzas. And there is one exceptional offering: a warm chocolate chip cookie platter.
