The Wooly Public Restaurant Review:

The Wooly Public channels old Manhattan and has an inarguably cool vibe in a stuffy part of town. This restaurant and cocktail bar from owners David Tobias and Eric Adolfsen is located in the Woolworth Building, a National Historic Landmark, and its trendy ambience and loud music will wash over you as you enter. Chef Jeff Srole turns out modern takes on classic dishes, such as rich Peking duck tots with hoisin and house queso and a crunchy and satisfying Goddess of Green salad with kale spiced up with chia, hemp, almond and avocado. For entrées, the confit chicken is crispy-skinned and juicy, served with charred broccoli rabe, and fresh market fish arrives atop a hash of Brussels sprouts, almond and grape that somehow melds beautifully. Eryn Reece (Mayahuel, Death & Co.) helms the bar, and cocktails are divided into "Old Souls" classics and "New Editions" innovations. A funky beer lineup notes stouts, ales and ciders; the wine list features bottles primarily from Spain and France. Don’t leave without ordering the "I Dream of Tahini" for dessert, a chewy, dense fudge brownie with tahini cheesecake, a sesame seed crust and a sprinkle of smoked Maldon salt.
