What brings folks back to World Café is not only the fresh, eclectic cuisine, but also its romantic Mediterranean-like garden patio. David Teck and Carol Woolley opened World Café in February 1990, merging international cuisines through a California filter. The café caters to everyone, offering vegetarian, low-calorie, egg-, dairy- and fat-free dishes as well as richer ones. Start with shrimp and scallop pot stickers or black bean quesadillas. Main courses are highlighted by spicy bowtie pasta with chicken, vegetables, cilantro and pesto sprinkled with Parmesan; sesame-crusted ahi with vegetable wild rice and ginger broth; and herb-crusted lamb loin with garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. After dinner, indulge in an espresso or chocolate dessert. World Café also offers a snazzy cocktail lounge with a weekday happy hour, popular with the locals after work.
