THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Xanadu Restaurant Review:

George Chen owns the posh Shanghai 1930 in San Francisco, the place to go for Peking duck and other dishes. He also has an ownership interest in a quick-noodle chain called LongLife Noodles Company & Jook Joint (see San Francisco/Quick Bites). At Xanadu, he has tried to replicate Betelnut, his first big success---and is doing a good job. Located near the train tracks, Xanadu is brightly colored and airy. We loved Chairman Mao’s ribs with fennel seeds as a starter and would walk across the tracks for the three peppercorn mussels perfumed with lemon grass. That herb also infuses a nice chicken dish, while one lamb dish takes its flavors from Indian spices. Another winner is the noodles with seafood and tofu. Desserts are excellent. Try the warm chocolate cake or a seasonal fruit parfait.
