Perch on a stool along the counter at this upscale clam shack founded by author and celebrity chef Bradley Ogden. Slurp some littlenecks on the half shell while deciding among the Maine lobster roll, a basket of Ipswich clams or Marin County oysters on the half shell. The chunks of Maine lobster, tossed in a bit of mayo, arrive in proper, flat-sided, griddled sweet rolls, while the plump Ipswich clams, flown in daily, have the briny, mineral-rich flavor of the Atlantic Ocean. West Coast seafood lovers will feel at home with the fish ‘n’ chips or mussels steamed with chorizo and beer. If the San Francisco summer fog is creeping in, the helpful staff will gladly fire up the heaters on the wisteria-covered outdoor patio to encourage another round of frosty pints. Save room for Ogden’s signature butterscotch pudding or a slice of tart lemon pie piled high with burnt-peaked meringue. For families, there’s the added attraction of a sandbox for the kids.
