Pop up on a stool along the counter at Bradley Ogden’s upscale clam shack and slurp some littlenecks on the half shell while deciding between the Maine lobster roll and a basket of Ipswich clams. Both are as authentic as you’ll find west of New England---the chunks of Maine lobster, tossed in a bit of mayo, arrive in proper flat-sided griddled sweet rolls, while the plump Ipswich clams, flown in daily, have the briny, mineraly flavor of the Atlantic Ocean. West Coast seafood lovers will feel at home with the stellar fish ‘n’ chips or mussels steamed with chorizo sausage and beer. If the San Francisco summer fog is creeping in, the helpful staff will gladly fire up the heaters on the outdoor deck to encourage another round of frosty pints. Save room for Ogden’s signature butterscotch pudding or a slice of tart lemon pie piled high with perfectly burnt-peaked meringue.
