| Longtime Atlanta chef Shaun Doty and entrepreneur Erik Maier launched this upscale, contemporary fast-casual eatery. The specialty is customizable burgers made with White Oak Pastures grass-fed beef from near Albany, Georgia. Nitrate-free hot dogs, organic salads and locally made High Road Craft Artisan ice cream are offered. For burgers, standard varieties include beef, bison, organic turkey, chicken and vegetarian, and sometimes lamb, but often this one sells out. Insist on your desired doneness, because when cooked more done than medium, the grass-fed beef becomes dry and dull. Onion rings and an unusual mint-enhanced coleslaw were terrific, but fries were soggy. Gluten-free options are available at both locations. The classic pimento cheese tops the Southern dog, a piled-high version that we found loses the great taste of the hot dog. Better to get the simple grilled version with a few adornments. Biodynamic wines are acceptable but reds are served too warm, so check out the organic bottled beers and signature drinks. Also located at 1017 N. Highland Ave., Virginia Highland, 404-437-7845. |
