Yemanja Brasil Restaurant Review: Yemanja is officially a wise elder on the dining scene---especially in Benton Park, where new restaurants are blossoming all around. But for colorful style and exotic food, it has a ways to go before it catches up. Start your evening off with a caipirinha, the lime and cachaça cocktail. As for the eats, the feijoada---black bean stew with sausage, pork and flavorful, imported dried beef with accompaniments including farofa (yucca flour crumbs), greens and rice---is tops. The seafood dishes are good, too, including the shrimp in a yucca-coconut cream sauce. For dessert, try the dense, translucent and super-sweet coconut custard. And, whatever you do, don't pass by the Brazilian espresso, which is smooth enough to make the sugar-in-my-coffee crowd think twice. |
