| The menu holds so many appealing choices that dining here creates a wonderful dilemma. We suggest starting with the tasting plate. It’s almost a meal with calamari fritti, Parmesan risotto fritters, house-made mozzarella and more. Offering traditional plates (we dig the veal scaloppine with cranberry beans, frisée, tomato and sage broth) and modern selections (get the grilled trattoria steak with olive oil smashed potatoes, asparagus and balsamic vinaigrette), there’s something for all. Z is known for its butterscotch panna cotta---and with good reason. Still, a crème brûlée martini and caffe a’more with amaretto and Kahlúa could easily (and blissfully) end a meal. Roomy and airy with clean lines and white columns, the dining room sports warm yellow and brown tones with windows overlooking the Grandview Avenue street scene. |
