| A terrific spot for lunch or an early dinner, this Middle Eastern cafeteria-style café turns into more of a club at night, with hookahs, low lights, and even a DJ. It's not uncommon to arrive and find folks queuing up outside the door, each awaiting their turn to order from the menu posted on large boards. Favorites include authentic falafel (a totally different experience from what's served at fast-food joints), shwarma and gyros. We like the mixed veggie sandwich with tender roasted eggplant, cauliflower and potato wrapped in a warm, grilled-to-order pita with house-made hummus and dressed with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, chickpeas and a spicy sauce. Also good options are chicken mishwi, a.k.a. Middle Eastern rotisserie, a classic tabbouleh salad, and thick, flavorful lentil soup. If you've never tried real Turkish coffee and authentic baklava, this is the place to order them. |
