Zara's Food Store Restaurant Review: Zara’s is living proof that the little guy can still compete in New Orleans. While big, corporate-owned grocery stores are located just blocks away in all directions, Zara’s has remained an Uptown favorite since World War II. The place is frequented for more than just its old-fashioned service and a ready supply of New Orleans pantry staples. It features a deli with a slew of sandwiches and prepared meals. Quartered muffalettas, rotisserie chicken and po' boys made-to-order are serious bargains. The actual grocery store is small but stocks everything you could want, from Creole cream cheese and European butters to Louisiana headcheese. The store also offers a rotating selection of domestic and international wines.
