Zee Grill Restaurant Review

: Zee Grill is relaxed, yet cool looking, with black tables and chairs, exposed brick walls, brick-glazed floor tiles, an oyster bar towards the front and outdoor patio at the back. Chef-owner Jac Eckhardt has been cooking in the kitchen for over 25 years, including when the restaurant was called Phebe’s. Oysters are always a good starter; the daily selection changes according to what’s freshly available. Eckhardt has a good hand with fish preparations, so expect wild salmon to be cooked translucent and served with a savory porcini sauce. Have the upside-down Granny Smith apple tart with house-made ice cream for dessert. Under a thin pastry shell, it manages to be both light and satisfying. The ever-evolving wine list offers much more than the usual, including Albariño, Grüner Veltliner and other white grapes great with seafood.

We started with a dozen oysters and lobster croquettes. Oysters were fresh and nicely plated on crushed ice. The lobster croquettes were outstanding both in texture, flavor and plating. These croquettes are the size of golf balls (4 of them) and are plated on top of a long glass tube.
It reminded me a bit of these fried octopus balls that street vendors sell in Japan.

As mains we had each a half roasted lobster with leeks, dumplings and sea urchin butter sauce.
Absolutely delicious! We will go back for that again. We shared a chocolate dessert and decided that our meal at Zee Grill was one of the better ones we've had this year. We indulged and our evening was a 10 out of 10.
