Homey, neighborhood Zeke's entices customers to linger in the front barroom, where the oysters and Abita beer are plentiful. But the garlicky charbroiled oysters, the butter-soaked New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp, and the seasonal boiled seafood are good enough to lure a regular clientele, who drive out to the suburbs from the city proper. As Zeke’s is a green beer destination on St. Patrick’s Day, the place offers corned beef and cabbage to mark the occasion. And if you do not know what “boudin balls with piquod sauce” are, Zeke’s is the place to learn. Whatever the occasion, don't miss the definitive fruit cocktail-style bread pudding with thick caramel sauce. Zeke’s is not much for fine wines, but you will find local beers, including the aforementioned Abita.
