Zell's an American Cafe Restaurant Review: Pancakes are king at this homey café, particularly the giant, eggy German ones that draw aficionados from all over the city. The almost-as-large apple pancake is equally delectable. Omelets are also standouts, and range from wild mushroom and unusual cheeses, to salmon, and interesting vegetable combos. Everyone is friendly here, and if you have to wait a bit, there are scores of newspapers and magazines around to ease you through the hunger pangs. This is the kind of place where your coffee mug will be refilled even before you put it back down on the table, and you're served homemade mini scones with raspberry jam as soon as you're seated at your table. Accompany your breakfast with a Bloody Mary or mimosa. Breakfast food is really what to order here, but lunch options include classic all-American options such as burgers, club sandwiches, Cobb salad, or potatoes topped with cheese.
