This hot Asian-Latino fusion restaurant offers a menu that should pique the interest of any foodie looking for good times and good food. For one, its flashy upstairs dining room has warm earth-and-fire tones that both soothe and inspire the inner gastronome. Then the menu take patrons on a culinary escapade, through Latino ceviches and Asian sushi rolls, with a few unexpected twists---try the carnitas rice noodles, an oversize appetizer that depends on full flavors of long-marinated and then roasted pork served with Asian noodles and a poached egg. The entrées include such dishes as wonton tacos, seared foie gras served with ancho-vanilla mango, and empanadas stuffed with Thai chicken and fired up by chile poblano rajas. And the dessert menu is just as far out, with such possibilities as Key lime flautas and lemon yuzu cake and ginger ice cream. Figuring out how and what to order is part of Zengo’s charm. Another part is snagging a seat at the bar, which offers you the chance to chat up the bartender and to view the inner workings of the kitchen and its crew. |
