THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Zinc Bistro Bar Bakery Restaurant Review

: With a jaw-dropping design and one of the sweetest patios in town, Zinc offers diners an appealing departure in the form of French bistro fare. The 4,000-square-foot space boasts dramatic 17-foot ceilings, oversize burgundy-clad booths and mosaic tile floors. Outside, a 30-seat bar runs parallel to spacious alfresco seating in a fancifully landscaped nook just off East Fourth Street that was once the Dollar Bank building. The kitchen serves up French staples like onion soup, escargots and beef tartare. There is coq au vin, steak frites and Dover sole for two, too. Desserts also have a pronounced French accent, including a strawberry mousse served with a rich pistachio brittle, whipped cream and a rhubarb compote. The shortbread biscuit is served with berries and a bright, citrus-y sauce; we also suggest the crème brûlée. The cocktails and wines are serviceable.
