Zoës Kitchen Restaurant Review:

In the bustling Elmwood neighborhood, almost every restaurant seems to be a fast food joint. But this one specializes in Mediterranean fare made from fresh ingredients. Birmingham-based Zoës turns out a product that is definitely a cut above the usual. The menu runs the gamut, from a variety of hummus appetizers to a tossed Greek salad featuring a slightly addictive house dressing, and the predictable array of kebabs and a side dish of basil and feta pasta salad that cries out to be an entrée. Prices are moderate, but portions are huge. You may want to take a whole house-made chocolate cake home --- and you can. And that salad dressing? You can take a bottle of it to go as well. The only thing we miss here is a nice wine selection. The interior is brightly lit with high ceilings, but nothing to write home about. Zoës is a great place to stop during an expedition at adjacent Elmwood Shopping Center, or before or after a movie at the nearby multiplex.
