Zorba's Restaurant Restaurant Review

: A Greco-Roman wrestling match might break out in your mind as you try to choose between Greek and Italian specialties at this friendly, family-run feedery. But let the restaurant’s name be your coach and opt for spanakopita (homemade spinach and feta in flaky phyllo) or moussaka (layers of baked eggplant, béchamel custard and meat) over heaping platters of spaghetti. Of course, if you’re diplomatic, bridge the divide with pasta à la Greek, noodles baked with feta and mozzarella and your choice of marinara or meat sauce or just sautéed onions. Peel back the foil wrapper on souvlaki pita to reveal the pillowy bread cradling nicely charred pork, evoking masterful street food. Chicken shish kebab served over rice pilaf tastes as good as it does because the meat is marinated in extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, lots of spices and, the secret ingredient, red wine. Greek salad may be sparse on olives, but components are fresh, and feta generously showered. At lunch, sandwiches like a grilled gyro in warm pita and subs including meatball and turkey are available along with soups, and dinner offers broiled lamb chops and specials such as sea bass. Don’t forget to finish with Greek coffee and homemade baklava.
