WINERY ORGANIZATIONS: NEW ZEALAND


New Zealand's temperate climate and vast range of soil types allows it to produce a wide variety of wines with bright, distinctive flavors. The winemakers' attention to the land as well as their wines has also given New Zealand a reputation for being a "clean and green" wine country.

Central Otago Pinot Noir Ltd
A promotional organisation that develops and delivers cohesive regional promotions to benefit all Central Otago wine industry stakeholders, the Central Otago Pinot Noir Limited (COPNL) was established in 2003 by Central Otago Winegrowers as an independent vehicle marketing Central Otago wine and promoting the Central Otago wine brand.

Central Otago Winegrowers Association
The Central Otago Winegrowers Association (COWA) is a collaborative association of grape growers and winemakers working together to share information and ideas on the issues that face the region. The association provides general advice with regard to grape growing and wine making, provides information and advice on the development of organic vineyards and conversion to organic grapegrowing practices, organises and operates a programme of continuing education and acts as a cooperative for the general promotion of Central Otago grapes and wines.

Gisborne Wine New Zealand
Tucked away on the East Coast of New Zealand, Gisborne is famous for producing exceptional Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Merlot and Malbec.

Hawke's Bay Winegrowers Inc
The offical regional wine industry organisation representing all wineries and growers, Hawke's Bay Winegrowers Inc was formed in 2006 and comprises over 80 winery members and over 170 grower members. Its aim is to build the Hawke's Bay fine wine category in achieving international recognition as a sustainable and profitable world class wine producing region.

Matakana Winegrowers Inc
The mission of Matakana Winegrowers is to advance and enhance the mutual interests of the winegrowers in the wider Matakana region, in matters pertaining to the growing of grapes, and the production and marketing of grape wines of the region.

Nelson Wine Art and Nelson Winegrowers Association 
Located on the northwestern tip of New Zealand's South Island, Nelson is primarily planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Nelson Winegrowers Association represent grape growers and wine producers in the Nelson Tasman Region. Nelson Wineart is a marketing collective of 25 wineries in the Nelson Tasman region.

This organization promotes all of wine producers in New Zealand. Their site offers information on wine styles, regions, events, research, awards and statistics.

Northland Wine Growers Association
Known for the quality of its white wines, Northland's wine industry is growing fast. Formed in 2007, the Northland Wine Growers Association boasts more than 50 members.

Waiheke Wine Growers Association
Just 35 minutes by ferry from Downtown Auckland, Waiheke Island has become known as New Zealand's "Island of Wine" — home to a dedicated group of award-winning winegrowers who have successfully matched the unique maritime climate and ancient soil structures to the selection of classical grape varieties in order to produce red and white wines with distinctive varietal character.

Waipara Valley Wine Growers
Advertising itself as "the world's greenest wine region," the Waipara Valley is situated only 40 minutes drive north of Christchurch International Airport and Christchurch city, the capital of the South Island. It is the fastest growing wine region in New Zealand with around 80 vineyards in the Waipara valley covering more than 1,200 hectares of plantings.

Wairarapa Wines
The Wairarapa is located at the lower right-hand corner of New Zealand's North Island, approximately an hour north-east of Wellington. The winemaking area is divided into three main sub-regions: Masterton to the north, Gladstone in the middle and Martinborough to the south.

Wines from Martinborough
The vineyards of Martinborough formed Wines From Martinborough as an organisation in October 2004 to promote Martinborough as a premium boutique wine region and celebrate the unique diversity of the region.

Wines of Canterbury Inc
Representing grape growers and winemakers living and working in Canterbury, Wines of Canterbury Inc is an active association that looks to add value to members by providing practical educational workshops and social events.
