On-Going Weekly | The Cabinet of Curiosities

The Cabinet of Curiosities is hosting weekly mixology masterclass.

The Cabinet of Curiosities at Horseshoe Las Vegas, the immersive bar and speakeasy known for its collection of rare and precious things from around the world, has debuted a weekly mixology masterclass.

The 90-minute program includes a presentation on the history, flavor profiles and techniques of crafting two classic cocktails. Guests will have a host of spirits, mixers and garnishes to craft their own custom cocktail while guided by an expert mixologist. Classes cover essential tools, techniques and terminology of mixology; how to balance flavors and fashion harmonious cocktails; how to create unique and innovative cocktails that reflect personal style; and the art of garnishing and presentation to enhance the visual appeal of cocktails.

The neighborhood bakery and café by day and a restaurant and bar by night located in the Las Vegas Arts District, is hosting classes to give baking enthusiasts the chance to learn how to bake bread like a professional.

Led by head baker Noel Rosello, the baking process will be shown from start to finish, with items requiring lengthy prep time being pre-made and the finished baked goods crafted by the students taken home to enjoy.
The class schedule is:
– June 12—Brioche
– June 26—Sourdough
– July 10—Focaccia
– July 24—Sourdough
– August 7—Cherry Walnut
– August 21—Sourdough
– September 11—Epi & Baguette. 
The one-hour classes are $60 per person, are held from 3 to 4 p.m. and include wine, light snacks, a Q & A with chef Noel, recipe card and small container of sourdough starter.

The Ahern Hotel will host the inaugural Las Vegas Indoor Summer Beer Festival.

Will be offered unlimited sampling of beers from several local breweries including Able Baker, Beer Zombies, Big Dog’s, CraftHaus, Nevada Brew Works, North 5th and Tenaya Creek.

Tickets for general admission from 1-6 p.m. are $39; and VIP, which also includes early admission at noon and all-you-can-eat food from Ahern Hotel’s Joel’s Chophouse and Ottimo Gourmet Kitchen & Pizzeria, are $74.

The food menu for VIP includes short rib grilled cheese, truffled mushroom arancini, ahi tuna crudo and little gem Spanish Caesar from Joel’s Chophouse; and Detroit-style pizza by the slice, BBQ pork belly, spicy crab Nero with squid ink lumache pasta and fried mac-n-cheese bites from Ottimo Gourmet Kitchen & Pizzeria.

1228 Main in the Arts District is hosting a summer series of themed dinners.

It happens on the last Thursday of each month with seatings at 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. The July event, Barbeque Takeover, will feature an assortment of barbecued meats and is priced at $70 per person.

The menu, served family style, includes chopped salad with bacon, egg, tomato and blue cheese; dry rubbed & smoked pulled pork butt, hot links with jalapeno & cheddar, dry rubbed & smoked St. Louis style spareribs, rotisserie slow turned BBQ Jidori chicken with BBQ glaze; banana pudding with house made Nilla wafers and salted dulce de leche, and peach cobbler with farmer’s market peaches and vanilla ice cream; and accompaniments of sweet & spicy and Carolina BBQ sauces, house pickles, creamy slaw, jalapeno & cheddar corn bread, BBQ baked beans, creamy mac & cheese and potato buns.

Grape Vine Café Wine Bar & Cellar will host a four-course wine dinner featuring Wente Vineyards.

The dinner will be hosted by Jordan Wente, who will bring two exclusive limited wines not available anywhere else in Nevada.

Courses are:
– prawn, mango & avocado salad with lime dressing paired with Wente Riva Ranch Vineyard Chardonnay;
– mushroom ravioli in a mushroom cream sauce matched with Wente nth DEGREE Merlot;
– New York steak tagliata with arugula, shaved parmesan, olive oil & aged balsamic paired with Wente Charles Wetmore Cabernet Sauvignon and Wente Limited Release Cabernet Franc;
– and tartufo classico.

There will also be bottle signings, raffle prizes and discounted bottles. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the cost is $125 per person plus tax and tip.

August 9, 2024 | Picasso

Chef Julian Serrano will host a celebratory dinner honoring the 25-year legacy of his restaurant Picasso at Bellagio Resort & Casino on the eve of the restaurant’s permanent closing.

The epicurean event featuring Serrano’s revered classics will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-dinner cocktail reception on the Picasso patio overlooking the Bellagio Fountains, with a special toast with chef Serrano and guests, photo opportunities and live entertainment.

The following four-course dinner will include dishes such as Maine lobster salad, tart of foie gras, sweet corn potage with langoustine, tuna tartare, braised Australian wagyu short rib and roasted milk-fed veal chop. The evening will conclude with a special toast to chef Serrano on the Picasso patio as guests are provided a special gift to commemorate the evening.
