Beach City Grill Restaurant Review:
Instead of linens, glass-topped beach towels cover the tables at this funky mainstay. Chef/owner Larry Hodgson, who grew up in Aruba and served in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, draws from myriad ethnic cuisines when creating dishes for the frequently changing menu. We enjoy his sweet potato fries, yam and spinach tacos, lemon-garlic shrimp, seafood gumbo, vegetable skewers and blackened mahi mahi. Hodgson also makes the desserts, which include such concoctions as Aztec chocolate-habanero cheesecake, fried plantains with ice cream, Key lime crème brûlée, and "No Fear" pie --- a dense block layered with white chocolate, almonds, English toffee, butterscotch chips and caramel.
