![]() : What started out as a taco cart in the form of a roof-less Volkswagen Bus parked at the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, has become a taco-centric mecca in New York City. The owners moved north, planting themselves in NoLIta with Tacombi, an old garage-cum-restaurant (complete with that VW Bus). After the success of the first Big Apple taqueria, they launched this Flatiron taco spot, which has an open kitchen and a bar. Tacos, which come on one flour tortilla (instead of the standard two), are small but packed with flavor. The menu offers tacos ranging from the black bean and sweet potato version to the al pastor (grilled pork), and Baja crispy fish to barbacoa. Wash it all down with jugos (Mexican juices) or aguas frescas and you’ll want to say “hola” to this place again and again. |
