THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Caffe Emilia Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED This narrow spot, owned by a couple expats from Emilia-Romagna, brings the tastiest fare of their home region to the East Village without requiring patrons to make a trans-Atlantic flight. Sandwiches made with the area’s famed tortilla-like bread, piadina, are stuffed with porchetta, fresh veggies, and dripping with Fontina and mozzarella. Thin and crispy white pizzas please the palate. So do the thick ciabatta sandwiches, which are crammed with provolone, mortadella and arugula. The back garden makes for a serene atmosphere for munching and lingering over a coffee. Or hang out at the front-of-the-room coffee bar, where Italian expats sip espresso and read news about home.
