Dawat Restaurant Review

: Dawat is an elegant establishment where chef, cookbook author and TV personality Madhur Jaffrey acts as the creative force behind the menu, which features many unique seasonally changing specialties. Begin with the flavorful baghari jhinga, a curried shrimp made with garlic and mustard, or the spicy mulligatawny soup combining split peas, vegetables and chicken. Tandoor favorites include a whole fish marinated in yogurt and flavored with dill-like ajwain seeds before roasting, the home-style pieces of cardamom-infused baby goat, and roasted chicken folded into a creamy tomato sauce. Curry is almost as popular, including Goan fish and Mughlai chicken. Accompaniments range from naan stuffed with ground lamb, to nuts and dried fruits, and traditional yogurt and cucumber dips.
