Dhat Island Caribbean Creole Cuisine Restaurant Review:
A pleasant surprise in the Inland Empire is this place with Haitian, Cuban and deep Southern roots, satisfying a loyal clientele in a cozy, vaguely tropical setting. Marinade au poulet (Haitian chicken fritters) are served with a dipping sauce and spicy pickled chiles, while fried okra and cornmeal-battered mushrooms add a bit of soul. Main courses include oxtail stew, curried goat and grilled snapper --- even conch when available, all served with plantains and beans (red beans with rice or Cuban-style black beans). In addition to occasional Haitian specialties, cobblers and praline cheesecake represent the American South.
