Fukurou Restaurant Review:

This diminutive izakaya (or Japanese tavern) is the first U.S. outpost of the popular Tokyo chain. The rustic décor and pleasant service are only part of the appeal: the menu is surprisingly affordable, especially for the quality of the food. Fried taro rice balls might not sound especially appealing, but their molten center has an almost meaty quality. Roasted pork belly is tender and subtly sweet, while raw octopus is mixed with wasabi, a scintillating addition. Pair your meal with one of a handful of sakés, all of which are served in a bamboo vase, or the sole beer on tap, Asahi.
