: What a happy circumstance that this brewhouse is located right in the center of downtown, an easy walk from hotels, galleries, the convention center, and the Performing Arts Center. Enter and immediately become part of the noisy, happy crowd of diners backlit by the occasional flames of the kitchen's wood-fired stove. A fireplace takes center stage in the dining room, a freestanding stone monolith that sports huge moose antler-shaped andirons. It is hard to go wrong with any of the pizzas or alderwood-fired rotisserie meats. Among the favorites to share is the Alaskan version of “surf and turf,” an indulgent pairing of rotisserie prime rib and Bering Sea king crab legs. We also suggest the rotisserie-roasted lemon-herb chicken, served with creamy mashed potatoes. Add the spinach and strawberry salad as a refreshing match for any entrée. There's often standing room only at the bar, which serves classic cocktails, wine and home-brewed beer, among other tipples. Look beyond through the glass wall to see the floor-to-ceiling brewing equipment that gives this spot its name and heritage. |
