![]() : When this Philadelphia import opened in New York’s East Village in late 2013, Big Apple fans of Chinese food rushed to it. The Sichuan-esque fare can be hit or miss, bold in flavor or completely underwhelming. Get anything that’s classic Sichuan, though, and you won’t be disappointed (the hot, peppery Sichuan sauce is made in-house). Start with sour ginger string beans or pork belly in garlic chili oil. Crunchy deep-fried pepper wings are satisfying, and so is anything that comes via the hot pot. Rabbit with peanuts in a hot chili oil and Sichuan peppercorns can be riveting; consider the smoked half duck as well. There isn’t much by way of dessert, so just order another Chinese beer – or glass of Sauvignon Blanc – to quell the fire on your palate. |
