: Calling itself a Filipino gastropub, Jeepney does not mislead: the atmosphere is casual --- there’s a curvy bar up front and a more tranquil dining room in back --- and the beer flows fast. Order a bottle of San Miguel and graze on tender pork shoulder served with spicy house-pickled peppers, good enough to bring you back for a return visit. So might the curiously named “Defeated Chicken,” a mix of roasted chicken, crispy pig feet, and a poached egg all slathered in adobo sauce. The adventurous can opt for balut (yes, that’s an embryonic duck egg) or menudo pie, which combines tripe, chicken liver and lamb shank. For dessert, try the “halo-halo,” a coconut-laced shaved ice flan concoction. |
