Manducatis Restaurant Review:
A loyal following braves the industrial wasteland of Long Island City for a taste of Ida Cerbone's sauce made from family-grown tomatoes. In fact, with extra-virgin unfiltered olive oil and wine from the family vineyard in Italy, and many of the pickled vegetables put up by Ida each summer, this is as close to a real family osteria as you can get in Queens---or anywhere in New York for that matter. Enjoy such specialties as shrimp Ida, roast suckling pig, homemade pasta and gnocchi and garlicky broccoli rabe. This very casual and off-the-beaten path restaurant has a loyal following who are treated like members of the family. Unexpectedly for such a humble spot, there is an excellent wine list, with many fairly priced bottles that perfectly complement the hearty fare.
